ALASKA KICKS-OFF BATANG ALASKA SCHOOL MILK PROGRAM

Campaign aims to help achieve the right height and weight with the help of proper nutrition and fortified milk

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – According to the 2015 Updating of the Nutritional Status of Filipinos developed by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute of the Philippines (FNRI), 1 out of every 3 children in the Philippines aged 5 to 10 is suffering from stunted growth. Similarly, 1 out of every 3 children aged 5 to 10 years old  is underweight.

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines stunted growth as the “failure to reach one’s full potential for growth.”  Poor nutrition is one of the many causes of this. This can also result to being underweight or when a child weighs less than the average for their age and height.

Stunted growth as well as being underweight are problems that should not be ignored.  If not addressed early, stunted growth may lead to lost productivity and opportunities, and to nutrition-related diseases later in life.

Fully aware of these facts, Alaska Milk Corporation, who is dedicated to providing proper and affordable nutrition to Filipinos for over four decades, will  hold a series of events with activities to promote the importance of proper nutrition all throughout a child’s development years in order to reach the right height and weight for their age.

Taking the lead in this campaign is Alaska’s new Alaska Fortified Powdered Milk Drink which is loaded with Vitamin D, it’s also high in calcium and iron and a good source of protein. The Color Run Hero Tour 2018

Assemble your Armour Fitness Retreat launched

UNDER Armour athletes Meggie Ochoa, Gretchen  Ho and Kali Huff, lead the UA’s Women’s Fitness Retreat “dubbed as assemble your armour, yesterday at Chi Spa of Edsa Shangrila.
These women champions in their own field of sports shared their training regimens, fitness routines to selected women patron of Under Armour.
One of the highlights of the event is the Self Deffense tecniques shared by ambassadress Meggie Ochoa. Ochoa once again ruled the Asian region recently when she bagged a gold medal in the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
Ochoa was one of the two gold medalist for the Philippines recently, when she beat a Vietnamese foe to capture the top honor in the women’s Ne-waza -45kg division event.
“Overwhelming,” said Ochoa in an interview after arriving from Ashgabat. “Right from the beginning, marami kaming pinagdaanan bago kami makarating dito. Sobrang grateful, sobrang grabe ‘yung pasasalamat especially kay God dahil kung hindi dahil sa kanya, Siya ‘yung nag-align ng mga pangyayari para mag-lead dito.”
It was another gold medal for Ochoa, who last year also took first place in the Asian Beach Games in Vietnam. Following the success of in the AIMAG, Ochoa is now looking at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia as the next target.
“Hindi kami tumitigil sa training at sa paghahanda at sa pag-realize ng mga learnings from AIMAG,” said Ochoa.
Ochoa is part of the growing list of Under Armour ambassadresses which have brought honor to the country due to their performances in the international sports scene.
Last year, Hidilyn Diaz made history by becoming the first Filipina to take home a medal in the Olympics when she claimed the silver medal in the weightlifting competitions in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
Diaz was also a winner in the recent AIMAG when she captured the silver medal in the event as part of her preparations for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where she is aiming for nothing else but a gold medal. Diaz is also taking part in the next Under Armour’s fitness retreat, in which the successful Filipina athletes and personalities will be able to draw inspiration to the Filipino people through their efforts.

The first Hello Kitty fun run was held in Bangkok in February 2016. Afterwards, it was also brought by Tokyo Gets to many other Asian countries such as Singapore, China, Indonesia and Vietnam.

Throughout the event, the concept “Link Love Together” was widely adopted from race kits to decorations, merchandise to food & beverages, etc. The event attracted numerous media support both from online and offline platforms.

Jr. NBA Philippines presented by Alaska to Inspire Nationwide Youth Basketball Participation

MANILA, PHILIPPINES, Jan. 18, 2017 – Jr. NBA Philippines 2017 presented by Alaska returns this year to the Philippines from Jan. 20-May 14 as part of the league’s effort to encourage youth basketball participation. 

Jr. NBA, the league’s global youth basketball participation program for boys and girls, teaches participants the fundamental skills and core values of the game at the grassroots level in an effort to help grow and improve the youth basketball experience for players, coaches and parents.  In addition, Jr. NBA Philippines will introduce a court refurbishment initiative that will revitalize a community court through the NBA Cares platform.

The Jr. NBA Philippines 2017 presented by Alaska is free and open to boys and girls ages 10-14 and is comprised of four stages: skills clinics in schools and communities, Regional Selection Camps, a National Training Camp and an NBA experience trip.

The skills clinics will be held nationwide from January through April with stops in Bacolod, Batangas, Cagayan De Oro, Cavite, Cebu, Metro Manila and Subic.  The Regional Selection Camps will be held in Cagayan De Oro (Feb. 11-12), Lucena (Feb. 25-26), Cebu (March 11-12) and Metro Manila (April 1-2), with the top 37 boys and 37 girls advancing to the National Training Camp in Manila on May 12-14, which will feature an NBA and WNBA player or legend.  The program will culminate with the selection of 16 Jr. NBA All-Stars, comprised of eight boys and eight girls, who will embark on an overseas NBA experience trip with fellow Jr. NBA All-Stars from Southeast Asia.

The 2017 edition of Jr. NBA Philippines will begin the search for the Jr. NBA Coach of the Year Jan. 20 in Manila, led by Jr. NBA Head Coaches Craig Brown and Chris Sumner with Alaska Power Camp Coach Jeff Cariaso.  Fourteen Jr. NBA coaches will be selected as finalists and trained at the National Training Camp, with two Jr. NBA Coaches of the Year awarded with an NBA experience trip.

Canon Philippines Unveils EOS 5D Mark IV

Canon Marketing Philippines officially launched last night the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DLSR with Orimedia’s Michael Ori. Along with his DIT Joey Jonaitis, Michael, demonstrated the camera’s high-end features as well as its functionalities. The country’s top photographers converged at the Samsung Hall of SM Aura Premier in Taguig City, to witness and welcome this newest model in the EOS 5-series. I almost drooled seeing its new capabilities and enhancements over its predecessors. I wish could afford to get this impressive full frame camera (sigh!).
