Manila, Philippines – The world’s number one sports drink, in partnership with Runrio, will once again hit the road for the second year of the Gatorade Run.

It will be held on November 27, 2016 at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City. The run will have two distances—11K and 22K.

More than 6,000 runners registered in last year’s run which featured hydration stations where participants got pre-race hydration drinks, a post-run hydration test area where runners instantly learned about their hydration status, and a warm-up area where free sessions were available for those who wanted a full-on warm up activity before and after the run. Gatorade ambassadors Jeron Teng, Jaja Santiago, Chris Banchero, Jett Manuel and Ara Galang were among those who were present to support the runners.

Race organizer Coach Rio dela Cruz of Runrio shakes hands with Pepsico Marketing Manager for Hydration, Tony Atayde.

This year’s run promises to be more exciting, while still focusing on the importance of pre- and post-run hydration. Pepsico Marketing Manager for Hydration Tony Atayde said, “Gatorade is a global leader in sports performance and we’ll definitely bring that expertise to the run. Learning the benefits of proper hydration is crucial for runners and we look forward to reinforcing that message through the Gatorade Run.  We’re excited to show runners how, whether in sports hydration or a unique consumer experience, NOTHING BEATS GATORADE.”

Registration for the Gatorade Run 2016 will start on September 12. Log on to runrio.com for updates and to register.

Enervon Activ – RU2 Hydration Belt Promo

enervon-activ-hydration-belt-promo-poster

Think green. Bringing your own bottle during races is the ‘in’ thing nowadays. If only a thousand or two will bring their own bottle to be filled and refilled along the route in every race, that will be about a fifth of the potential trash of plastic cups to be prevented from filling our landfills.

Some concerned groups or green movements pour their efforts, resources and conduct information campaigns to help the environment gradually recover from the harsh effects brought about by pollution. Our response to slow down environmental deterioration is to heed these groups’ advice: reuse, reduce, recycle.

This is one of the things Coach Rio dela Cruz mentioned before, while he’s conceptualizing a race event wherein runners will bring their own hydration bottle since no plastic cups will be used during the race. That concept had materialized during the recently concluded and very successful Sole Racing International Half-Marathon, with around 2,000 participants. To ensure runners’ involvement and compliance to be ‘green’, the provided race kits include a specially-made Runrio drinking bottle that everybody loved.

Now, Unilab Active Health and again, Runrio, had launched this amazing promo: The Enervon Activ – RU2 Hydration Belt Promo.

I’ve seen this item and actually have one courtesy of Unilab Actve Health to use during races. Owning a hydration belt is now a must, especially if you are running a trail. You don’t want to be exhausted and dehydrated in the middle of the race, because you don’t know where the next water station is.  Or when you reach the station, there’s no more water left for you to re-hydrate. 😦

Kindly read along to know how to avail this limited edition hydration belt.

Here are the mechanics:

1. This promo is exclusively for registered 2013 Run United 2 participants.
2. Purchase 10 pieces ENERVON ACTIV at any of the authorized registration centers of RU2 (worth 120php) and get the limited edition Active Health Hydration Belt for only 200php (includes 2 bottles X 180mL).
3. Race bib number must be presented when availing the promo.
4. Promo can be availed once per bib number only.
5. Promo Duration: April 26 – May 26 or until supplies last.

Mornings with Active Health

Two weeks ago, running bloggers were very fortunate to be invited to a one-of-a-kind product promo and race event launch. We were requested to come at 6 o’clock a.m. to the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City, with our running attire. Energetic people from Unilab Active Health (ULAH) and Runrio, Inc., also geared up for the event, greeted us cheerfully upon our arrival at the lobby of Bahay ng Alumni, U.P. Campus. Some booths were setup for this small venue, hinting that the event will cater to a small to medium gathering. I was refreshed and a bit energized after drinking their product sampling of Enervon HP and I-On Energy Drink, since I haven’t taken my breakfast yet. Later, we learned from ULAH people that Enervon HP is a great recovery drink after intense activity or workout, while Enervon Activ’s special formulation for athletes and for those who exercise a lot, if taken regularly can improve physical performance and endurance. On the other hand, I-On Energy Drink, unlike the ordinary, can boost and sustain performance, with no side effects, unlike those energy drinks overloaded with caffeine.

That morning was not just for ULAH and Runrio to promote their products and race event, but for us to experience its first ‘Mornings with Active Health’ – a running clinic conducted by no other than celebrity running coach Rio dela Cruz. I felt that it was an awesome experience for most who attended it since the venue is very conducive for running and biking enthusiasts – the campus oval is lined with large, old trees.  Too bad I was not able to participate in the activity due to sore muscles after my Filinvest City trail run a week before this. I remembered that I did not have any stretching and warm-up before the run, nor doing it after. I tried running a bit but the pain had intensified, so I just got my camera and kept it clicking until the end of the event.

A night before this, I had difficulty finding a running shirt only to replace it with the singlet provided by Unilab Active Health that morning, but I have no regrets! Because the singlet they gave to all the attendees are cool and comfortable to wear, and of high-quality, dri-fit material. Topped it with an ULAH sun-visor, all for free!  🙂 The new Run United 2 singlet and finisher shirt were also on display with improved design and fabric.

Kudos to ULAH and Runrio! I hope that there will be more to come.
