Press Release

Jr. NBA Philippines presented by Alaska returns to Benguet State University for this year’s second Jr. NBA Philippines Regional Selection Camp on March 23 and 24.  Jr. NBA coaches, led by Carlos Barroca of the NBA and PBA Legend Jeffrey Cariaso, will bring the league’s youth basketball participation program to teach basketball fundamentals and impart core values of the game to boys and girls ages 10-14.

Boys and girls will vie for slots to represent North Luzon in the Jr. NBA Philippines National Training Camp in Don Bosco Technical Institute Makati on May 17-19.  Athletes selected in the Benguet Regional Selection Camp will comprise part of the top 40 boys and 40 girls gathered from Regional Selection Camps in Lucena (March 9-10), Dumaguete (March 30-31), Butuan (April 13-14), Metro Manila (April 27-28), and the Alaska Power Camp.

In addition, the top performing 10 boys and 10 girls will represent Asia Pacific in the second Jr. NBA Global Championship held Aug. 6-11 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World near Orlando, Florida.  The international event will feature talented youth from the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, China, Mexico, Africa, India and the Asia-Pacific.

About Alaska Milk

Given the growing issues on health as well as the fast-changing technological environment, which leads to the change in children’s interests and behavior or sedentary lifestyle, Alaska believes that there is a need to reinforce its thrust in leading a healthy lifestyle not just by drinking milk but also by leading an active lifestyle. Alaska seeks to engage the youth, especially younger kids, in sports.

Alaska Milk looks beyond selling milk – it sells nutrition and by doing so, the Company and brand Alaska is doing its part in nation-building.  Through youth sports development programs, Alaska is able to help nourish children for them to develop into champions in the field of interest and, in general, in life.  The overall objective of the Alaska Sports is to strengthen the brand’s equity in nutrition through sports. To portray Alaska Fortified as a brand that helps instill the values of determination, discipline, teamwork, and hard work among the youth through sports.

gatorade-run-11-22

Manila, Philippines – The world’s number one sports drink, in partnership with Runrio, will once again hit the road for the second year of the Gatorade Run.

It will be held on November 27, 2016 at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City. The run will have two distances—11K and 22K.

More than 6,000 runners registered in last year’s run which featured hydration stations where participants got pre-race hydration drinks, a post-run hydration test area where runners instantly learned about their hydration status, and a warm-up area where free sessions were available for those who wanted a full-on warm up activity before and after the run. Gatorade ambassadors Jeron Teng, Jaja Santiago, Chris Banchero, Jett Manuel and Ara Galang were among those who were present to support the runners.

This year’s run promises to be more exciting, while still focusing on the importance of pre- and post-run hydration. Pepsico Marketing Manager for Hydration Tony Atayde said, “Gatorade is a global leader in sports performance and we’ll definitely bring that expertise to the run. Random Shots at Unicef Heroes for Children Run

I’ve been telling a lot of runners to check this site for pictures of them that might be included for posting. Whenever I’ve been asked: “Saan po makikita yan?” (“Where can I see the photo?”), “This is for Gatorade documentation, but you can visit my site to see if your photos will be posted.”, is my repetitive answer. Apologies to those runners who really wanted to see their pictures but found nothing here. As mentioned in my “About” page, I’m a very busy singing daddy of four children, with sideline jobs to make both ends meet. In as much as I would like to please you, I have too little time left everyday to edit, resize and upload great number of photos to your pleasing. 😦

But wait, luckily, I have free time just for now after a combined 2 weeks of rigid technical training and certification and some subject tutorials for my kid here and busy relocating to our new office there. After baking our food and having dinner, I will upload some photos before I go to bed. Actually, I’m lying on my bed now. Thank you for your understanding. We might see each other again on Run United Philippine Marathon and Gatorade Run. See y’all!

Random Photos at Runrio Trilogy – Run United 2 2016

The second installment of Runrio Trilogy which is the Run United 2, held last Sunday at the SM Mall of Asia Grounds in Manila, completed with over 8,000 runners that crossed the finish line. The number of runners participated in the 21 KM and 32 KM distances were overwhelming. I was there to document in photos a sports drink brand and the pictures I’m posting here are the side shots I took during the said event.  The atmosphere that morning was festive and the weather was just right with the sun shined so bright considering that almost everyday we’re experiencing some drizzles in the late afternoon, at night, and sometimes in the early morning.

It seemed that the longer distance runners passing through hydration stations were endless that made my hand painful due to almost non-stop pressing of the camera shutter button.

At the finish line and post-race area, people were seemingly ecstatic finishing their race and getting their loot bags filled with some goodies and finisher shirt. Gulping a bottle of Gatorade followed by another bottle of water, made them utter “ahh!” and instantaneously smiled in front of my camera. 🙂 See you again runners at the World Vision Run!

Gatorade reinforces dominance with powerful new TVC Nothing Beats Gatorade features Alyssa Valdez and Terrence Romeo

Manila, Philippines – When it comes to hydrating the world’s top athletes and those who aspire to follow in their footsteps, nothing beats the world’s number one sports drink, Gatorade.

This message is succinctly captured in the sports drink leader’s latest TV Commercial featuring local sports stars Alyssa Valdez of the Ateneo Lady Eagles and Gilas Pilipinas point guard Terrence Romeo who star alongside international sports icons Usain Bolt and Serena Williams.

“As the number one sports drink on the planet, and in the Philippines, it is our duty to spread the word of proper hydration to athletes all over the country,” Pepsico Philippines Marketing Manager for Hydration Tony Atayde said. “Proper hydration is our advocacy and our commitment. It is a building block that Gatorade was built on. More than anything else, our latest commercial is a reminder to everyone that to perform your best, absolutely nothing beats Gatorade.”

Gatorade’s latest TVC debuted in time for the round two of the highly anticipated UAAP Season 78 Women’s Volleyball match-up between the Ateneo Lady Eagles and the DLSU Lady Spikers where the defending champions from Katipunan avenged their first round loss to the latter.
